Every OBDX Pro scantool works as a J2534 pass-thru interface, and the GT also supports D-PDU. Find the dealership software 25 carmaker groups offer, plus aftermarket tools for tuning, programming and diagnostics.
Carmakers sell their own diagnostic and programming software to independent workshops and owners, usually through their service-information websites. Here’s what each brand offers that runs on a J2534 or D-PDU interface, and how to get it.
Check before you use any software. You must confirm that the software supports your vehicle, and that your OBDX Pro supports the OBD protocol your vehicle uses. The product pages list the protocols each tool supports, and our OBD2 pin guide shows which protocols your vehicle’s port points to.
Sold and supported by the carmaker. Most of this software needs a paid subscription, what’s offered differs between countries, and some functions, such as key programming, need extra registration. Some carmakers also need their own interface for certain functions.
BMW's main diagnosis and programming software for F- and G-series and newer BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce models. BMW recommends its own ICOM Next interface, which it says is faster than a pass-thru.

Outside the US and Canada, register at aos.bmwgroup.com and buy time on BMW's Aftersales Online System: diagnosis and programming from €9 an hour or €19 a day, up to €3,305 a year. In the US and Canada, subscribe at bmwtechinfo.bmwgroup.com (MINI and Rolls-Royce have their own sites). In Australia, BMW restricts some access to workshops with an EV certificate.
Requirements
Windows 10 or 11 Pro or Enterprise 64-bit, a fast and stable internet connection, and an external power supply when programming.
J2534 and D-PDU
Works with an SAE J2534 interface over USB (not Bluetooth, and no USB hub) using BMW's PassThruD driver from the ISTA start page. Some older models need an adapter, and the E31, E34 and E36 318i can't communicate through a pass-thru at all. Large head-unit updates can take a very long time over J2534.
Programming for E-series BMW and R-series MINI models; newer F- and G-series cars use ISTA. BMW warns that a battery charger isn't enough when programming: use a proper programming power supply.

How to get it
Part of BMW's online service system, with the same subscriptions and prices as ISTA.
Requirements
As for ISTA: Windows 10 or 11 Pro or Enterprise 64-bit, a constant internet connection and an external power supply.
J2534 and D-PDU
Same rules as ISTA: an SAE J2534 interface over USB with BMW's PassThruD driver. One interface maker doesn't approve its devices for ISTA/P on CAS and JBE modules after seeing failures, so check with yours.

Details
How to get it
Free download from Ford Service Info (motorcraftservice.com). It shares a licence with FJDS: in the US, US$50 for 2 days, US$200 for 30 days or US$899 a year. In Australia, licence keys come through AASRA (A$40 for 72 hours, A$220 a month or A$1,680 a year, plus GST), together with a Ford Service Info subscription.
Requirements
A Windows PC with a constant internet connection: FDRS loads its latest software at each login, and the licence must be checked online at least every 30 days.
J2534 and D-PDU
Ford designed FDRS for its own interfaces and J2534-compatible interfaces. Ford's Australian listing doesn't say whether third-party interfaces are supported there.
Ford's J2534 software, including Ford Module Programming. It programs modules on 1996-and-newer Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, but diagnoses only select 2018-and-newer vehicles. Full diagnostics on older vehicles need Ford's IDS, which only works with Ford's own interface.

04About this directory
This directory lists 52 dealership software products from 25 carmaker groups, and 47 aftermarket tools. Each one is listed because the carmaker’s own service site, the developer’s documentation or an official repair-information body says it works through J2534 or D-PDU. We last checked every listing on 21 October 2026; software we couldn’t confirm isn’t listed.
A listing isn’t a compatibility test, and we haven’t tried every product with OBDX Pro. Before you use any software, confirm that it supports your vehicle, and that your OBDX Pro supports the OBD protocol your vehicle uses. Prices, subscriptions and what’s offered in each country change often, so check the carmaker’s or developer’s site before you buy.
Software names and trademarks belong to their owners. OBDX Pro isn’t affiliated with these carmakers or developers.
